It has Been a Long Month.............

Hello everyone; November was a long month for me; and December is flying by so fast. I have been busy with my groups and I also accepted a temporary job assignment at my former job; the one I retired from four years ago. While the income is wonderful, I miss my time and home and my stitching and crafting.

Hopefully, later this weekend I will post a photo of the ornaments I made for one of my groups. They are a bit different; some stitching involved, but not a lot.

I will also post some of the photos of many gifts I have received from lots of my stitching friends. All of them are just gorgeous. I am planning my stitching goals for the upcoming year and have lots on my plate once again. I have a Lizzie Kate SAL I will be finishing (yes, Meari!!); I am going to do another SAL with Angie called Lavender Blue; it is just beautiful! In between my SALs I will be doing my Prairie Schoolers, Lizzie Kates and many other charts which I have just fallen in love with over the last year.

I hope that all my stitching friends are staying well; there is a lot of illness going around her in VA; lots of pneumonia and different strains of flu. I sure do hope I can avoid them; I did get the flu shot and the pneumonia shot, because of my history of asthma and bronchitis.

I do want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year! If you do not celebrate Christmas, you enjoy whatever holiday it is that you observe!!!

Here is my progress of D Cockin. I'm enjoying to stitch it very much.
In some of the medallions, I found some mistakes made by D, which reminded me it was a piece stitched by a very young girl and somehow those mistakes made me realize I'm stitching something that is timeless and real.
The pics are a bit greyish, but next time I hope I can show better ones.

Anyway, I've almost finished part one of Mary Wigham, after a bit of frogging as I did not like the colour of the sort of Tudor Rose motif in the pale blue I had chosen - now in pale lilac and think it's much better.

Hi everybody, I hope you’ve had a nice summer. I do not stitch during summertime but I’ll begin soon. This is what I did before leaving on holidays. I think I told you I’m doing it with a friend as a SAL. This year she has many more professional responsabilities so I don’t know if we’’ll be able to keep on stitching together or if she’ll have to do it slowlier. In any case I don’t think I’ll stitch very quick, this last part, quakers, is full of small points and backstitch, two things I really, really dislike and I know that from time to time I’ll send it to the end of the drawer until I feel prepared to stitch it again, LOL, LOL, LOL.

I've been away from this blog for a long while,
but I've seen all your beautiful finishes: Congratulations to all the stitchers.

I'm going to open a new Quaker SAL: the theme will be "A quaker project from a Blackbird book".
You can choose a quaker pattern from one of the Blackbird Designs' booklet.
It means you can choose between:

from ""Peppermint and Holly": House on Holly Hill, Holly Manor;
from "With Needle & Thread": My Quaker House (if you haven't stitched during the first SAL), Tulip and Star pinkeep, My Pink house;
from "Thank You, Sarah Tobias": Flowers for Sarah needlecase (the Birds part);
from "My Heart is True": A Flock of Birds, Friends with You (written part), Small Tokens;
from "Tis Halloween": Spooktacular Pumpkin, Witch Hazel;
from "Joyeux Noel": Tis the Season, Souvenir of Paris:
from "Honeysuckle Manor": A-Tisket A-Tasket, A Stitcher's Companion, Honeysuckle pin box, Vintage pin ball, Summer House pincushion, pin and Needle cupcakes.

The first booklets, "A Fine Collection", "Tokens of Friendship" and "Souvenirs of Summer", are not included, as they don't contains quaker patterns.

Hi everybody. I’ve decided to stitch Quakers & Quilts by Rosewood Manor, ain’t it lovely?. My friend Julia and I got all the necessary stash for it several months ago but we decided to wait to finish other projects and also to solve our own personal issues. The thing is that we cannot wait any longer and we have decided to start it this coming Monday. We will stitch it little by little, but we NEED to start it, LOL, LOL. I’ll show you all my updates.

I’m going to use Valdani floss, as recommended and light sand 28ct cashel linen. The linen is not the reccomended one but the count is; the shop owner told me that the count to stitch it if using the Valdani balls (vs. the regular skeins) has to be 28 or it won’t look nice. I just let you know in case any of you is thinking about doing it.

Here I am again. Quaker Christmas © Bygone Stitches is done and in record time..... started on Nov 1st and finished on Dec 27th at 12:34am! I am thrilled with it! Done on Lakeside Linnen 32ct Lt.Exemplar. I changed the colors to Sampler Thread Blue Spruce and Buckeye Scarlet and I kept the gold color the same! Here is the picture

Hi my name is Juls and I am currently addicted to all things Quaker..... okay that's out of the way! Thank you for allowing me to join this blog and here is my first entry!
First is My Lady's Quaker © Jardin Prive . I was stiching her in Crescent Colors Cupid and ran out of thread and my LNS did not have a matching dyelot...and friends checked and nothing....so I went to DMC and was able to match it almost perfectly of course without the variations.....On close inspection no one was able to tell! I was so lucky....but now I buy many extra skeins! Here's some more pics of her....

I've been willing to stitch this gorgeous design for a long, long time but for one reason or another I always had to postpone it and leave it aside until "maybe next time". I'm finally stitching it; it's such a pleasure to work on it. I also bought the floss a long time ago but I hadn't decided anything about the fabric; I tried several but I really didn't like them so finally I bought the recommended one and I cannot be happier with the decission. So, I'm using WDW & GA overdyed floss and 30ct Garden State Java linen (R&R Reproductions). I hope you like it.

Sharing a Quaker

Just wanted to share my start on "Emblem of Love" which a group of us are working in a RR. Instead of the regular threads, I'm using a mixture of hand-dyeds, silks, and DMCs. It was fun to use this pink fabric and to change the colors to fit in my little granddaughter's room (eventually). I may have to enjoy it myself at home for a few months when it comes back to me!

Quaker Medallion Sampler

I have finally finished my quaker, designed by Ruth Ann Rusell. I have had to interrupt it for several reasons but here it is. I have used DMC linen (35ct) and DMC floss. Several stitches are used: cross stitch; rice stitch; smyrna cross stitch; algerian-eye stitch; vertical satin stitch; half sideways queen stitch; queen stitch. It's not very big (208H x 180W) and I guess that's all the information you may be interested in. I hope you like it.

I found that I made a mistake using a wrong color to stitch the star between letters H and I,;I fixed using the correct color, and this time, I added my initials and year to the piece.

Quaker a Six Mains

my DMC linen floss project

I've been AWOL for far too long--and with no Quaker stitching going on! But I'm back, and last night I picked up my Quaker a Six Mains for the first time in over a year. I don't know why I ever stopped stitching on it, but maybe it's because the DMC linen floss is a bit of a bear to work with. No matter, I'm glad to be stitching on it again. This is my Tuesday rotation project until it's finished!

I did find a counting error, so next week I'll have to break out the blocking board, the pins, and do some very precise counting to find the error and to determine what I'm going to do to correct it.

At last the piece is framed! I am so pleased with it. I've put in a close up shot so you can see how the framer covered the spacer with the same fabric. She always pays such attention to detail. Her advice helped choose the framing and I am so pleased.

This is a project that I finished the last year, in October, and forgot to share with you. Worked as a SAL leaded for me from my blog MagicXstitch.

The design is a freebie, Quaker Paix, from Carinne's web page, that I downloaded in 2005; the finishing idea is mine. I used linen 32ct in Antique White and DMC threads in colors # 931 and 3828.

This is my project to get done before I can really start the American Star. It is called the Dutch Alphabet by Sheepish Designs. I thought I would post to let you know an update. It is done on 32 count linen, with Charcoal--Weeks Dye floss. I think it is actually a retired pattern now.

Quaker Christmas update

Since I had already promised myself that I wouldn't have any new starts, I'm 'SALing in Spirit' with you--stitching on my Quaker Christmas chart.

Here's my progress so far. I've gotten most of page 2 stitched, so I'm only behind a little over 4 pages--of course, today page 7 will be released so I've not made up much ground! But I think a few more weeks of concentrating on this piece should allow me to catch up.

Hi everybody, I'd like to buy the Sarah Moon quaker. I've found it only in one shop but I really don't like the payment method; you have to fill in a form and then send it (there is no "cart" like in other pages). Does anyone know where to buy it?. Thanks in advance.

I decided that Rites of Spring from Loose Feathers would be my SAL. I started it last year-just a few stitches-and hopefully now will complete it. I had done the right branch and birds. This is what I've done so far. The colors are wonderful!

Hello friends,
I'm so pleased to share with you my first ever sampler and Quaker finish!
Hannah Beeby was so much fun to stitch and went quite quickly - not difficult to do when my sewing room is filled with stuff from the attic while it's getting a complete re-do, leaving my quilting on hold for a while.

So there's nothing else for it but to pick up the needle again, and continue where I left off with Ann Grimshaw 1818. Poor me! LOL!!
