Quaker Start
I really enjoyed the Beatrix Potter Sampler so I picked up and have started the Companion BP Sampler. Here is a snap of the piece -

I am working it in a Belle Soie silk called "Moss."
The fabric is a 32ct hand-dyed piece that I already had from a long while ago and do not have a name for it. I am holding off on the initials on the piece until the end.

Have a great weekend!!

Glad to be here!
I'm new also, thanks to Edgar for introducing me to Quaker designs! I admired his A Quaker Christmas and I joined his Quaker RR and I'm hooked! I really love the same color stitching! It's very soothing stitching! Can't wait to do the Workbasket Critter! I've got 6 patterns to choose from! What to choose? It is spring break for me next week and I'm planning on stitching!
Have a Quaker weekend everyone!

I'm New
Hello, my name is Jan and I live in Maryland 20 miles north of Washington, DC. I've been cross stitching since my former SIL taught me almost 30 years ago. I just discovered all things Quaker and feel in love. This will be my first exchange and I'm very excited about it. It has been the year for first in stitching for me as I joined an SAL also.

Some explications about the Quaker exchange *updated 04/04/2008
You have to be a member to join the Quaker animal exchange: don't worry, it simply involves that I register you as a contributor of the blog, I only need a valid email address where send the invitation.
Vice versa, be a member doesn't mean to join the exchange.

Theme is the only rule to respect: the exchange is about Workbasket quaker animals.

The exchange involves only the finished piece, not the pattern: what you will have to send is only your stitched and finished piece, and you will receive only a stitched and finished piece.

You can finish your piece in whatever way.

You can find Workbasket patterns in almost every US online shops.
I can suggest you Stitching Bits & Bobs, 123 Stitch, ABC Stitch Therapy, only to name some.

We have to achieve almost 10 members to start the exchange.

You will know who to send but not from who.

If you're interested in it, don't be afraid of the deadline: it will be about middle June.
Send me an email to subscribe.

Updates on the partecipants:
  • Veronica
  • Elena
  • Paula
  • Gwen
  • Edgar
  • Meg
  • Margie
  • Carol
  • Judy
  • Jan
  • Donna
  • Yuko
  • Mercy
  • Valerie
  • Jennifer
  • Irene *new

Hope I've helped everybody has questions about it,

My Hannah Beeby start
I was late making a start on my Hannah Beeby SAL as I was waiting for silk floss to arrive from the US. It arrived yesterday and this is what I manage to stitch yesterday afternoon/last night. The fabric is 40ct antique white linen and the floss is NPI in Very Dark Forest Green (407).

Hannah Beeby Start
I have started a new Quaker sampler as part of a SAL that just started in March. It's the Hannah Beeby 1816 sampler from Gitta's. We are stitching on it the last full week of each month.

I am stitching it 1 over 2 on Tundra fabric from Lakeside Linen using Snoqualmie Falls overdyed cotton from Needle Necessities. Here is my progress at the end of Round 1. You can click on the picture to see an even larger version of the photo. Please pardon the wrinkles -- I didn't press it for the photo.

I had so much fun working on it. I almost hate to wait until the end of April to work on it again. LOL

Another black and white pinkeep!

Now that I have joined the Quaker Inspired group I thought you might like to see my Quaker pinkeep. It is stitched on 36ct antique white linen with black Au Ver a Soie silk floss and the design is from the Ackworth School Pattern Book by Jacqueline Holdsworth. The scissors are Kelmscott Putford scissors - I thought they were just right for this project!

Quaker Pinkeep 1
This is my second pinkeep and I have been using this photo as my profile.
Actually the design I choose is the same as Tracy's, though!

I used fur pom-pom as the top pin.

Here is backing fabric which I used for this pinkeep.
