My Quaker Ornament
Although I didn't sign up for the SAL I have finished my Quaker Ornament for this year. It is actually taken from JCS Ornament Issue of 2002 - but a date change is easy. I used Dublin linen and stitched over one with DMC 115.

SAL Ornaments
I finished up the stitching on the ornament I started last week - but now that it is finished I wonder if "ornament finishing" is what I want to do to the piece -
I also started another ornament - the Reindeer form the JCS 2006 - here is my start -
This is stitching up pretty quick. Using WDW Cocoa on Days Gone By linen 32 ct.

my SAL ornament
I'm stitching REJOICE (The Workbasket) from the 2005 ornament issue of JCS. I'm stitching it on 35 count antique white linen from Vikki Clayton, and I'm using DMC 115 floss.
I was leaning toward that Quaker Reindeer, myself. I think I'll start stitching it as soon as I finish this one!

Christmas SAL
I've chosen the Quaker Reindeer from JCS Ornaments 2006.
At the moment I'm stitching it on Quaker fabric in a natural colour using a plain dark brown Anchor thread.
I've got everything ready but off tomorrow to a Knitting and Stitching show in Yorkshire so taking it with me to start either on the journey or while I'm there. But I might even wait until after my first visit to the show on Thursday to see if I can find a suitable hand dyed thread as I had none the right colour in my stash!
I'm hoping too to pick up some Quaker design charts and have booked a Blackwork class with the Royal School of Needlework.
Just hope I've got room in my bags and enough hands to carry all my goodies home!

Quaker Finishes
Both of these Quaker finishes have been done some time, but I keep forgetting to post them here. A Quaker Christmas took me about 3 months to finish. One of the few times I stitched almost exclusively on one project. Started the last weekend of March and put in the last stitch on July 1st.

This Quaker cow was done as a special birthday surprise gift for an older lady in my stitch group. Had to miss her birthday party and gave it to her last Wednesday. Yesterday, I got a call that we had lost her on Saturday night. Love you Joann and we will miss you. She loved the color purple.

Ornament progress - an a little Quaker finish...
I started my Quaker ornament yesterday - here is a progress snap -
I changed the recommended floss to some HDF to make it more Christmas looking. Here is a snap of a completed ornament I finished up a couple of weeks ago -
I think it turned out pretty nice.

Hi! Introducing myself
Hi All! I am Karen and am a serial starter. whew, i feel much better now. LOL I just can't keep my hands off a new project so therefore i have WAY too many WIP's/UFO's but that's okay. I have just recently in the last year or so began to just fall in love with quakers. I am working on a couple now, Cirque de Triangle by Ink Circles and Quaker Moments by Debbie Draper Designs. I also stitched up the Quaker Boo freebie but modified it a bit. I will share that pic with you. I stitched it on silkweaver solo fabric (orangish) and i really like how it turned out. I also have the Beatrix Potter Sampler in my stash to do but need to get a few other things stitched up as well first. Then they came out with the new Ink Circles (i believe it is) Croakworth?(not sure if that is the right name or not). So that will be on my wishlist as well. what's a girl to do?
I am going to do the Quaker ornament SAL with some of you to get some done for my tree this year. Along with stitching some ornaments for some friends as well.
hugs, karen

My Quaker Sampler
I know I don't post very often but I visit this board a lot cause I love to see your progress on your Quaker pieces. I wanted to share with you a piece I 've been working on for a few years. I decided that I wanted to stitch a Quaker sampler using all the motifs that I love. Here is my progress so far:
I am stitching this on 28ct Lugana over one thread using ThreadGatherer's silk, Autumn Foliage. I intend to use it to cover the lid of a wooden box tea box. Most of the motifs are from the Needleprint patterns and I believe so far, most of the motifs I've stitched are from the Sarah Moon pattern and Jacqueline Holdworth's, Quaker Pattern book. There really isn't any rhyme or reason to the motifs that I've chosen, just the ones that I really like.
I hope you like what I am stitching. Sorry for the quality of the photo, the it was raining the day I took the photo so the colors are washed out and have a grey cast to them. The linen really is a warm tone!

NEW QUAKERS
The quaker on the left is by Monasterium and is called Sampler 4 Seasons. I'm doing it on 28 ct lugana with DMC threads.
The one on the right is by Wiehenburg and is called Welcome Band. It's in my drawer at my LNS, just waiting for me to pick it up. I also have bought Croakworth, which is lovely and is a takeoff on Ackworth.
I'm going to be busy for awhile!
